São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates continue to be the primary destination for Brazilian eggs, with 50% of the total exported volume. In 2021, 6,900 tonnes were shipped to the Arab country, a volume 105% higher than in the previous year. Data were released by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) this Monday (10).
Next came Japan, with 1,100 tonnes, up 270%, and Oman, with 408 tonnes, up 183%. Other leading destinations in 2021 were Qatar, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia.
General exports
Sales of Brazilian eggs to the international market (considering all products, fresh and processed) totaled 11,300 tonnes in 2021. The number surpassed total exports in 2020 by 81.5%. There was an 80% expansion in revenue, with USD 18 million over the 12 months of 2021.
December
In December, egg exports totaled 2,490 tonnes, 72.8% more than in the last month of 2020. Revenue was 102.6% higher in the same comparison, totaling USD 3.99 million.
“December had the highest volumes exported in 2021. Production costs have significantly squeezed the sector’s margins, with the prices for the two main inputs – corn and soybean meal – increasing, in some cases, by more than 100% from one year to the next. Exports have helped alleviate the challenging scenario faced by laying poultry,” said the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin, in a release.
