São Paulo – The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has announced a new award for publishing rights professionals, the literary agents. The Sharjah Rights Connection Award is open to applicants worldwide until October 7, 2022. Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, is known for its promotion of literature.
SBA recognition will be divided into two categories. The first is for individual professionals selling translation rights for publishing houses. The second includes independent professionals or those working with specialized agencies selling book rights to publishers and other companies.
The award will be given in the 2022 edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) Publishers Conference. Just before the emirate’s annual book fair, the SIBF Publishers Conference will be a solid platform for buying and selling rights, signing contracts, exploring translation opportunities, and serving other business interests in the sector.
Award criteria
Global literature rights professionals are eligible to apply, and companies they work for can endorse their applications. The award only accepts individual entries, and candidates must specify the award category.
Applications must be made in English and include two 500-word testimonials from clients with whom the nominated professional currently works. Candidates can also tell, in a maximum of 1,000 words, about the growth of their business during the previous year.
