São Paulo – The Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) is accepting applications for its refugee student selection process, covering graduation courses at the campuses of São Carlos, Araras and Sorocaba. Interested parties may apply up until October 17.
Applicants are required to supply proof of their condition as refugees by means of documentation issued by the National Committee for Refugees (Conare). The complete list of documents required is available at http://www.vestibular.ufscar.br/refugiados/Edital_ProcSeletivoRefugiados2012.pdf. The documents are to be submitted to the Dean’s Office for Graduation at UFSCar.
The university will open at least one position in each of its 57 courses. The names of the applicants accepted will be disclosed on the UFSCar website, www.ufscar.br, on November, along with the respective courses and the date on which they must go to the university to take tests. The selection process for refugees is separate from the traditional one altogether.
The content of the test will be based on the model used for the tests of the National Secondary School Exam (Enem), considering grade school and secondary school curricula, with questions in four areas: Languages and Codes, Nature Sciences, Human Sciences and Mathematics. The tests will be in Portuguese, but there is no need for proof of fluency in the language. The names of the approved applicants will be disclosed on February 17, 2012, on the university website.
The UFSCar has been offering refugees the opportunity to enter its courses since 2009. At present, seven students at the university have entered it through this type of selection. For further information on the selection process, call (+55 16) 3351-8152 or write to covest@ufscar.br.
