New York – United Nations Organization (UN) secretary-general António Guterres (pictured above) said that big greenhouse gas emitters must act to achieve carbon neutrality in the face of climate change. Guterrez gave his first interview of the year at the UN headquarters in New York last Tuesday (4).
He mentioned a new climate crisis alert by the World Meteorological Organization saying that CO2 levels will reach a new record high in 2020. The secretary said that it’s important that, before November, the United States, China, India, Japan, and Russia pledge their commitment to respect and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
