São Paulo – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) launched this Wednesday (15th) in Brazil the campaign #SOS4Gaza. The action has as its goal to collect US$ 3,171 to be invested in the education of the children who receive the agency’s assistance in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
Donations can be made via the internet at the website http://www.kickante.com.br/unrwa. The contributions can be made via credit and debit card, bank slip or divided in up to six installments (with a minimum of US$ 7.93). The minimal contribution is of US$ 3.17. The amount collected will be used in the education of 240,000 children who receive the agency’s assistance in the Gaza Strip.
“Despite all of the challenges, Gaza’s children have dreams and want to have a future as any other children in the world”, emphasizes Pierre Krähenbühl, commissioner-general of UNRWA, according to the UN’s website.
“The campaign comes at a critical moment for Palestine’s refugees”, explain Krähenbühl. “I hope that the children in Gaza will inspire the generosity of the people. Supporters of the campaign will display solidarity to Gaza in a moment of isolation and despair. #SOS4Gaza can bring a little happiness for Gaza’s children”, he adds.
In the website, it’s possible to check out what the amount of each contribution can do for the children in Gaza. With US$ 7.93, for instance, one helps a child to attend school for three days, with US$ 47.57 a child could go to school for three weeks, and with US$ 380.57 one can sponsor a child in school for six months.
At the campaign’s website, it’s also possible to watch a video telling the stories and dreams of some of the children in Gaza.
