São Paulo – To mark December 18, World Arabic Language Day, the United Nations Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hosted an event at its headquarters in Paris, France, with a roundtable discussion on “Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence” and a concert.
Guests included scholars, artists and delegates from institutions involved with the language. Three subjects were in discussion: the impact of artificial intelligence on the preservation and promotion of the Arabic language; computerization of the Arabic language and the cognitive future; and the launch of the regional report “Arabic as a gateway to access and transmitting knowledge.”
The celebration is organized in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO, in partnership with the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Foundation.
Palestinian singer Dalal Abu Amneh performed alongside a group of six musicians. This Wednesday, UNESCO is also celebrating International Migrants Day.
UN Languages Days aim to promote and celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity, as well as the equality of all official languages used in the Organization and its agencies: Arabic (Dec 18), Chinese (Nov 12), English (Nov 23). April), French (Mar 20), Russian (Jun 6) and Spanish (Oct 12).
