São Paulo – Brazilian mining company Vale made 2.2 million tons of iron ore pellets in Oman, the Middle East Arab country, in the first quarter of this year, it said in a report made public this Monday (16).
Output was down 8.3% from Q4 2017 and 6.8% from Q1 2017. The company explained that production was halted for maintenance and corrections. This was scheduled for late 2017, but plans were postponed.
Vale’s Oman plant is located in Oman, along with storage facilities and a maritime terminal. The company ships ore from Brazil to be processed into pellets in the Arab country.
Vale’s iron ore and pellets sales broke a record in Q1 2018 at 84.3 million tons, up 6.4 million from Q1 2017. The company imputed this to “flexibility and active logistics chain management.”
