São Paulo – Motor vehicle exports from Brazil in February 2016 increased in comparison with both January 2016 and February 2015. The National Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea) reported this Friday (04) that approximately 36,400 units were exported in February, up 16.7% from February 2015 and up 53.1% from January 2016. To date this year, roughly 60,300 units were shipped abroad, up 26.8% from the comparable period a year ago. The numbers include sales of light vehicles, trucks and buses.
In February of this year, 505 agricultural machinery units were exported from Brazil, down from 829 units in February 2015 but up from 327 units in January 2016. Year-to-date through February, 832 units were shipped, a 39.8% decline over the comparable period in 2015.
Vehicle and agricultural machinery exports from Brazil grossed USD 848.7 million in February 2016, up 1.1% from a year ago and up 55% from January of this year. In the first two months of the year, foreign sales fetched USD 1.39 billion, down 7.5% from a year ago.
Anfavea also reported that 131,300 vehicles were made in February, down 12.5% from January and 36.4% from February of last year. In the first two months of the year, 284.4 thousand units were made, down 31.6% from a year ago.
