São Paulo – New vehicle sales were up 4.86% in Morocco from January to July this year, its Motor Vehicle Importers Association (AIVAM) was quoted by Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) as saying. By the end of July, 104,600 vehicles had been sold in the country, up from 99,800 through July 2017.
Sales in Morocco included 89,100 imported vehicles and 15,500 locally made ones. Imported vehicle sales were up 5.21% year-on-year, while locally made vehicle sales were up 2.87%.
Out of the 104,600 units sold, passenger cars amounted to 96,800 units, up from 92,400 through July 2017, a 4.77% hike. Commercial light vehicle sales climbed 5.96% to 7,800 units.
AIVAM said Dacia was the top-selling carmaker at 30,400 units, up 4.28% year-on-year. Renault sold 15,000 vehicles, up 18.32%; Volkswagen sold 7,000, up 5;48%; Hyundai sold 6,900, up 1%; and Fiat sold 5,900, up 17.75%. other biggest-selling brands, in this order, were Ford, Peugeot, Nissan, Toyota and Citroen.
Top-selling premium vehicle brands were Mercedes, BMW and Audi.
