São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will host its eighth webinar, “Brazil and Arab Countries: Economic Diplomacy,” next Wednesday (24) at 9 am. Discussions will involve trade, economic cooperation and investment. Registration is open and the webinar is free. Simultaneous interpretation into Portuguese and Arabic will be available, since viewers are expected in Brazil and abroad, as was the case in past webinars.
Speakers will include ambassador of Palestine to Brasília and dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Brazil, Ibrahim Alzeben; ambassador and Brazilian Foreign Ministry Bilateral Relations secretary for the Middle East, Europe and Africa, Kenneth da Nóbrega; Arab Chamber International Relations VP and ambassador Osmar Chohfi, secretary-general Tamer Mansour, and president Rubens Hannun. Brazilian ambassadors to Arab countries and Arab ambassadors to Brazil will also be featured.
According to Osmar Chohfi (pictured), ambassadors will discuss the development and characteristics of trade relations, as well as potential hurdles, so as to create the best possible conditions for trade and economic cooperation.
“The main thing is to provide a comprehensive overview of how relations are evolving with regard to economy and trade, what is the outlook and what else can be done as pertains to trade and investment,” said Chohfi.
Trade between Brazil and the Arab world has soared over the past 20 years, according to Chohfi. “In this context, multiple initiatives have come to pass, in diplomacy, agreements, and memoranda of understanding involving entities in Brazil and the Arab world, for various purposes, including sharing information, improving conditions for trade… In short, a bevy of initiatives that emerge from diplomatic activity,” said Chohfi. Economic diplomacy, he explained, occupies itself with creating the best possible conditions for trade and economic cooperation among countries.
