São Paulo – The Kanoun Institute of Brazil-Lebanon Comparative Law will host on Friday (3) an online lecture about the travels of Brazilian emperor Dom Pedro II to the Middle East and North Africa. The 90-minute conference in Portuguese will run at 5pm (BRT). Registration is open and the webinar is free.
The speaker will be researcher and author Roberto Khatlab, a Brazilian who lives in Lebanon, where he is director at Centre for Studies and Culture of Latin America (CECAL) of Saint-Esprit de Kaslik University (USEK). Lawyers Ricardo Elias Maluf and Oswaldo Chade will moderate the talks.
Khatlab wrote the book “The Journeys of D. Pedro II – Middle East and North Africa, 1871 and 1876.” Dom Pedro II visited the Middle East and North Africa in two occasions and is regarded as the first “PR” of Brazil abroad, taking information about his country to the Arab, African and European peoples.
