São Paulo – The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) will hold on Tuesday (24) the webinar “Mercosur-Egypt Free Trade Agreement: how to benefit?”, focusing on the opportunities that this agreement can bring to Brazilian companies. Signed in 2010, the bilateral trade agreement between the bloc and the Arab country went into effect last month, after Argentina ratified it.
With registrations for free and open to anyone, the webinar will be mediated by Apex-Brasil’s Igor Celest, with the participations of José Antônio Braga, from the Ministry of Foreign Relations (MRE), and Carlos Biavaschi Degrazia, from the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC).
According to Priscila Negreiros, the supervisor of the business facilitation area of the agency, the target audience are companies of all sizes interested in Egypt. “We chose the webinar (live online streaming) format because it can reach a higher number of companies than an on-site seminar, for instance,” she explains.
Set to last approximately one hour, it will be divided between the presentations of the representatives from the ministries and a Q&A session. MRE will talk about the general features, the importance and how the negotiation for the agreement played out, while the MDIC will dive into more technical topics, such as the products covered and the norms. “The idea is to present the best way to use the agreement in practice,” said Priscila Negreiros.
The Apex-Brasil intelligence supervisor says that the private sector claims for many trade agreements but, due to unfamiliarity, ends up not taking advantage of the opportunities that they bring. Thus, the agency plans to, starting with Egypt, organize a series of webinars to examine these agreements and help the companies make the best use of them.
To take part, those interested need to register here until Monday (23). Close to the webinar’s scheduled time, another link will be sent to the registered email, which will direct the user to the video, with live streaming beginning at 10 am. There will be a field for the users to make questions, which will be moderated by Apex.
Priscila Negreiros is expecting around 100 participants in this webinar. “There’s no restriction for the number of people, any number of people can take part,” she explains. The access can be made via a computer, tablet or smartphone – in the latter case, however, it’s necessary to download the app Saba Meeting, available for iOS and Android.
