The Abu Dhabi-based enterprise will build a storage and distribution center in Curitiba, the state capital. “This should be the first of many agreements [with Arab investors],” said state development agency (Agência Paraná de Desenvolvimento) CEO Adalberto Netto. Yahsat will provide satellite-based internet services in Brazil beginning in the second half of this year.

The grants made available by the UAE government cover 133 international institutions, including the University of São Paulo (USP), the only Brazilian university on the list. Monthly grants are USD 4,000 a month for single students, and USD 4,800 for married students.
