This Monday (6) in your ANBA Bulletin: Arabs are attending the Apas Show, held by the São Paulo Supermarket Association (Apas). The event will run through Thursday (9) in São Paulo. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce has a pavilion at the expo once again. The area features 11 exhibitors from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, the UAE and Tunisia, offering food and toiletry items to the Brazilian fairgoers. “Product variety has increased, which helps our goals to diversify supply and seek an even trade balance between Brazil and the Arab countries,” Arab Chamber president Rubens Hannun told ANBA's Bruna Garcia. And the Arab Chamber's stand is an attraction unto itself. Featuring Arab architectural elements like arabesques, mashrabiya and porticoes, it was inspired by a Saudi university. “Our directions were to make a scenography that referred to the Arab culture,” said architect André Macedo Corrêa, who designed the stand. “The aesthetics in themselves convey a message of Arab culture and beckons people to visit us,” added Hannun. And you'll learn about the Lebanese-descendant makeup artist Karina Saib, who emphasizes the influence of her background in her work, be it at São Paulo Fashion Week or the lessons she teaches. “Femininity is a constant in the Arab [world]. That was a major influence on me,” Saib told ANBA's Thais Sousa.
