Syria is in the spotlight in your ANBA Bulletin this Monday (15). Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce president Rubens Hannun visited the country during a mission to the Levant, also including Lebanon and Jordan. Alongside Strategic Affairs adviser Tamer Mansour, he convened with local authorities and businesspersons to learn about business opportunities. Syrians are interested in buying sugar and meats, among other items; in getting investors into its oil industry; and in getting cooperation for social programs. The Arab Chamber executives also attended the 60th Damascus International Fair. “The fair broke all records of visitors, area, number of stands, and this shows the interest and trust that Syria is getting from the global market,” said Hannun.
As a result of the mission, Syrian executives will join the next Apas Show, the supermarket industry show to be held by the São Paulo Supermarkets Association from May 6 to 9, 2019 in São Paulo. They will showcase their goods in a pavilion organized by the Arab Chamber. In the sidelines, the Chamber will host the Brazil-Syria Forum to encourage deal-making.
While in Damascus, the Arab Chamber executives met with Syria’s Health minister Nizar Yazigi. He called on the organization’s support in resuming a liver transplant physician exchange program with São Paulo’s Syrian-Lebanese Hospital.
