Apart from having the second largest population of cats and dogs, the country produces 1.2 million tonnes of pet food, second only to the United States. In terms of revenues, the country is fifth, at US$ 1.2 billion per annum. Around 46 countries import Brazilian pet food and the market should expand, as Brazil is a large producer and exporter of cattle beef and chicken, raw materials used in the product.
