São Paulo – The evolution of agricultural machinery is the highlight of the 22nd edition of the International Trade Fair of Agricultural Technology in Action (Agrishow), which started this Monday (27th) and is open until Friday (1st) in Ribeirão Preto, in São Paulo state. “From year to year, the sector evolves. There’s a big evolution in the field of equipment, agricultural implements and tractors”, declared Fabio Meirelles, Agrishow’s president. For the executive, the main benefit to come out of this technological evolution is that the machinery “generates more revenues with fewer costs”.
This year’s Agrishow brings 800 brands and is expecting more than 160,000 visitors. Among the exhibitors, there are companies from several fields, such as precision agriculture, family agriculture, storage (silos and warehouses), correctives, fertilizers, pesticides, safety equipment, irrigation equipment, tools, agricultural implements and machinery, construction machinery, parts, auto parts, tires, livestock, biodiesel production, bags and packaging, insurance, seeds, software and hardware, screens, wires, fences, valves, pumps, motors and vehicles (light and heavy trucks and utility, besides crop dusters).
The opening of the event was attended by several authorities, such as vice-president Michel Temer; Kátia Abreu, minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply; Aldo Rebelo, minister of Science and Technology, and Geraldo Alckmin, governor of São Paulo state, among others.
Meireles didn’t mention data on expected business, but said that the attending companies’ expectations are favorable. “Tomorrow we will see how business is going”, he said. The executive said also that the sector wish for no more tax increases from the government.
Business round
As published by ANBA, companies from Algeria and Egypt are taking parto f the business rounds organized by the program Brazil Machinery Solutions, which is a partnership between the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association (Abimaq) for the international promotion of the sector.
Coming from Algeria are the companies Sarl Zed Auto and Sarl Belarus, while from Egypt there are Mabrouk International Co. for Engineering Industry and Tanta Motors.
The rounds happen on Tuesday (28th) and Wednesday (29th) with the participation of 29 Brazilian companies. Besides the Arab countries, also attending are importers from Belgium, Canada, Singapore, United States, Philippines and Thailand.
According to data from Abimaq, the expectation is that business closed this week during the rounds can overcome the amount dealt in the fair’s last edition. In 2014, participating companies closed generated US$ 12 million in sales during the two days of meetings.
