São Paulo – The situation in Palestine has drawn international attention, but for many the reason for the conflict taking place in the region is unclear. To answer what actions led to the current situation and what is at stake, the Study Group on International Conflicts (GECI, in the Portuguese acronym), in partnership with the cultural space Al Janiah, prepared an introductory course on the Palestinian Question. Pictured above, solidarity with Palestinians in Beirut.
With a total of seven classes, the goal of the free course is to show a critical perspective to explain the origins of the Palestinian Question, how it developed historically, which players are involved and what are their interests, among other approaches. The inaugural class will take place this Friday (21), at 7:30 pm BRT, and the last is scheduled for June 5th. The course’s language is Brazilian Portuguese. Complementary activity certificates will be issued to those who participate in at least 75% of classes.
The complete schedule and the list of teachers (in Portuguese) are available at the registration link. The course will be taught by Palestinian-Brazilian journalist Soraya Misleh; Middle East and North Africa Working Group of the Latin American Council for Social Sciences (CLACSO, in the Portuguese acronym) member, Isabela Agostinelli; and professors of International Relations at PUC-SP, Reginaldo Nasser and Bruno Huberman.
The cultural space and restaurant Al Janiah asks for voluntary donations from anyone who can help with any amount to keep the space open amid the pandemic.
