São Paulo – Brazilian makers of medication and hospital equipment interested in entering the Algerian market now have an opportunity to participate in the 14th edition of the International Medication and Equipment Salon (Simem), to take place between April 20th and 23rd, in Algiers.
This will be the country’s first time at the fair and preparation of the stand is organized by the embassy of Brazil to Algeria. According to the Brazilian ambassador in Algiers, Henrique da Silveira Sardinha, the entrance of Brazil in the event was an answer to a request both from the government and the private sector of the Arab country.
"They know our good experience with generic medication, know of the good quality of Brazilian medication, of its respectability, and want to count on these products," he said to ANBA. He also added that there is interest in Brazilian producers of medical equipment participating in tenders to place their products in Algerian hospitals and clinics.
"They [the Algerians] see us as suppliers of quality goods at competitive prices when compared to their traditional suppliers, Europe," explained the ambassador. Sardinha also pointed out that Algeria is a market of 35 million inhabitants that imports practically all it consumes in terms of medication and medical equipment. To him, after the phase of knowing the market with participation in fairs, Brazilian companies may even consider the possibility of promotion of joint ventures for local production of medication in Algeria.
