São Paulo – Over 130 exhibitors and brands are expected to showcase their products and services at Algeria Woodtech, a global wood, woodworking, equipment, and technologies show for the sector. The event will take place at the Palais des Expositions Pin Maritimes in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria, from September 19 to 22.
Wood products, raw inputs, furniture, materials, panels, machinery, equipment, and woodworking tools will be featured at the show. On the services side, interior design and software companies will exhibit.
In addition to the stands, there will be a business space for meetings with companies interested in the Algerian and African markets. Around 15,000 visitors from all over the world are expected at this first edition of the event to learn about the potential of this Algerian industry. The Arab country in North Africa is considered a gateway to the African continent.
Registration is open for both exhibitors and visitors. For citizens of some countries, including Brazil, to visit Algeria, obtaining an entry visa through the Algerian consulate is necessary.
Trade balance
Algeria is the world’s third-largest cork producer and supplies several European countries, annually exporting between USD 4.3 million and USD 7.5 million in cork. The country imports around USD 530 million solely in sawn, sliced, or peeled wood a year, apart from other materials from this sector.
The Arab nation launched a program to build over one million housing units by 2024, opening excellent prospects for the timber sector. Algeria has 43 million inhabitants, and the demand for wood is high.
