São Paulo – Amazonas Sandals, a brand belonging to the Brazilian Amazonas Group, has made its first sales to the Arab market. It will take shoes to shops in Saudi Arabia, Oman and Morocco this month and to those in the United Arab Emirates in July.
“Some 10,000 pairs will be shipped to Oman and Morocco and 20,000 to Saudi Arabia,” said Frederico Pucci, export manager at the company, regarding shipments to take place in May. The executive says that the company operates through distributors in each of these countries.
“We are participating in many fairs abroad and prospecting new clients,” said Pucci regarding entry into the Arab market. “Many clients are prospected at fairs, but we also always visit their countries,” he pointed out.
Sales to the Arabs were closed early this year. According to Pucci, the company is also negotiating shipments to Egypt, Algeria and Lebanon. The manager believes that Saudi Arabia should be the largest market for the company in the region, but pointed out that the volume exported is not all that matters to the brand.
“We do not only seek volume. We want to direct sales to the best shops,” he said. “We prefer distributors who operate with intensity and quality,” he said.
In late April, Amazonas opened its first shop abroad, in China, and, according to Pucci, it is the first of many. In two months, Amazonas Sandals will have 15 shops in China. Apart from the Asian country, the brand should also open shops in Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines. “There are great chances of opening shops in the Emirates. We were negotiating to open shops in Dubai and also in Abu Dhabi,” he pointed out.
The brand
Amazonas Group is the largest producers of components for shoes, furniture and packages in Latin America. In 2011, the company released Amazonas Sandals, its own rubber sandal brand. Focussing on sustainability as its main pillar, the brand was created eyeing the foreign market.
Currently, with production of 50,000 pairs a month, Amazonas Sandals are already shipped to 23 countries, including the United States, the Netherlands, Paraguay, Denmark, Panama, Croatia, Russia, Poland, England and Greece, among others. Headquartered in the city of Franca, Amazonas Group has around 3,000 collaborators.
