São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce should promote on Tuesday (27) seminar Economic relations between Brazil and Sudan. The event should count on a Sudanese delegation, led by the minister of Oil, Awad El Gazz, engaged in promoting business and investment opportunities in the country.
“This forum should offer information to companies so that they see Sudan as a potential destination for business,” stated Janaina Calonga, commercial manager at the Arab Brazilian Chamber.
At the seminar, apart from Gazz, also present will be the deputy minister of Finance and Economics of Sudan, Magdi Yassin, the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Badr Aldien Mahmoud, the ambassador of the African country to Brasília, Abd Elghani Elkarim, and the director general of sugar and alcohol sector company Kenana, Mohamed Elmardi. On the side of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, there will be presentations by the organisation’s president, Salim Taufic Schahin, and by CEO Michel Alaby.
The seminar should cover themes like energy and biodiesel, agriculture and livestock, infrastructure and opportunities in the pharmaceutical and medical-hospital sector. The event is turned to companies connected to the Arab Brazilian Chamber, but companies interested in participating may get in contact with the organisation.
The Sudanese delegation has been in Brazil since the 22nd and has already had engagements in Brazilian capital Brasília with representatives of the Federal Government. Last Thursday, the delegation met the executive secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Márcio Zimmermann.
“Brazil is open to cooperation and to sharing experience and know-how in the areas of oil, gas, electricity, mining and agribusiness,” said to ANBA the Sudanese ambassador regarding the meeting in the federal capital. “It is important to recall that important Brazilian companies are working in Sudan in the areas of ethanol, cotton, oil, agricultural machinery, irrigation and livestock,” added Elkarim.
Still in Brasília, on Friday, Gazz and his delegation met with Valdemar Carneiro Leão, undersecretary general of Economic and Financial Affairs at the Foreign Ministry. At the meeting, the topics discussed included the possibility of renegotiation of the Sudanese debt with Brazil and the possible cooperation in the oil area.
In Rio de Janeiro, the Sudanese have engagements on Monday (26), at the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) and at the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). On the 28th, the delegation will head on to Piracicaba, in the interior of São Paulo, for a meeting at the Alcohol Hub.
Back in the city of São Paulo, on Thursday (29), the delegation will participate in a dinner celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Arab Brazilian Chamber.
