São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber TV, an institutional communication tool of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, has won the regional leg of the 2010 Aberje Prize (granted by the Brazilian Entrepreneurial Communication Association) in the "Media – Small and Medium Businesses" category. The Aberje prize selects the best five entrepreneurial communication initiatives developed in Brazil as a whole, as well as in five individual regions of the country.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber’s programme is filmed and broadcasted on the organization’s website. After winning the regional leg as the best communication initiative among small and medium enterprises in the state of São Paulo, it now competes for the national prize, to be announced on November 25th. The programme was created in February 2010 by the Arab Brazilian Chamber’s Marketing Department team with the purpose of communicating with the Chamber’s target audience, namely Brazilian and Arab businessmen, in a unified, low-cost fashion.
To Rubens Hannun, the Marketing vice president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, winning the regional leg of the Prêmio Aberje has been extremely important and attests to the programme’s innovative, groundbreaking character and quality.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber TV has two versions, one in Portuguese and the other in English with Arabic subtitles. Together, the two editions have had 42,629 visits since their launch. "You can reach an audience with up to seven hours of time zone offset, at a low cost, wherever they are," says Andréa Uhlmann, the Marketing manager of the Arab Brazilian Chamber. The programme has been viewed by people in 79 different countries.
To Andréa, the great challenge facing the implementation of the Arab Brazilian Chamber TV was "to make the information frequent, because the programme, which is produced every fifteen days, does not count on journalists. "Now, we are seeking to make it economically viable through advertising, at the same time seeking to keep the content unbiased." The Arab Brazilian Chamber TV approaches matters such as economy, tourism, foreign trade, culture, and it also covers events promoted or supported by the organization.
"This is a double victory [for the Arab Brazilian Chamber] because the website competed with the magazine. Both initiatives are worthy of praise," says Hannun. Câmara Árabe em Revista, a publication by the same institution, also competed in the São Paulo leg, which the programme won, as did the 60 editions of Pão com Manteiga, by the KlaumonForma communication company. Pão com Manteiga is a monthly meeting for professionals from different companies and specialized consultants during which matters pertaining to entrepreneurial communication are discussed. In the national finals, Arab Brazilian Chamber TV will compete with Informativo Baleia, by the Baleia Hospital, in the city of Belo Horizonte.
The Aberje prize is in its 36th edition and awards entrepreneurial communication initiatives in 20 categories, divided into three fields: Communications and Relations Management; Media; and Small and Medium Enterprises. The regional legs are divided into: Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro; Minas Gerais and Midwest; North and Northeast; South; and São Paulo.
