Dubai – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) signed three memorandums of understanding (MoU) in the opening of business seminar Paraná Business Experience on Tuesday (12) morning in the Crowne Plaza Festival City Hotel in Dubai. The MoUs were signed with Invest Paraná, Paraná State Industry Federation (FIEP) and Itaipu Technological Park (ITP). Paraná governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior (PSD) attended the event and participated in the signing ceremony. Pictured above, signing of the MoU with ITP.
In the first signing, ABCC president Osmar Chohfi, Invest Paraná director president Eduardo Bekin and FIEP chairman Carlos Valter took on the stage and signed the documents together. The ceremony featured FIEP Governmental Relations Leticia Yumi and Paraná governor Carlos Massa Junior, too.
The cooperation agreements aim at establishing trade development and strengthening relations between the private sector of Paraná and the Arab countries, thus connecting Brazilians and Arabs to bring about economic, social and cultural development as well as contributing to attract investments, reduce regional inequalities, create jobs and technical innovations, and others.
Another MoU was signed between the ITP and the ABCC. The document was signed by ABCC president Osmar Chohfi and secretary-general Tamer Mansour, and ITP financial director Flaviano da Costa Masnik and head of business and innovation Rodrigo Regis de Almeida Galvão.
This MoU aims at furthering activities to develop innovative solutions with startups in several fields like networking events for generating business between investors and startups with strategic topics, B2Bs, and other activities.
After the signing, ambassador Osmar Chohfi briefly addressed the three MoUs with FIEP, Invest Paraná and ITP. “The MoUs aim at supporting the Paraná state as it breaks into the Arab market,” he said.
The agreement provides for partnerships with small- and medium-sized enterprises aiming at fostering trade as well as attracting investments in technology and the exchange of technical expertise on food security and logistics.
Chohfi pointed out that Paraná is a market with a great exporting potential and the one that exports the most poultry, besides ranking second in sugar sales to the Arabs.
“In 2020, Paraná was the fourth biggest Brazilian exporting state to the Arab market,” the ABCC’s president said. He also congratulated governor Carlos Massa Junior for launching Paraná international office in Dubai. Approximately 100 people attended the seminar.
Governor Carlos Massa Junior also spoke in the seminar. He said that sustainability is a global agenda and that Paraná administration has worked hard for sustainability in the region, which brings benefits like a higher quality of life. “Concern for the environment has also become a great business opportunity and helps open doors for Paraná-based companies,” he said. He mentioned the beauty and wellness industry as a sector where sustainability is greatly relevant now and evoked the example of O Boticário, “our great showcase that represents us.”
Then Chohfi and Mansour talked to approximately thirty businesspeople in a meeting room on the business culture of the Arab world and the services that the ABCC provides.
Governor
Before the event started, governor Massa received Osmar Chohfi and Tamer Mansour for a brief talk. They discussed the potential of the country’s southern state to do business and share experiences with the Arab countries, and Chohfi invited the governor to participate in the Halal Forum, a hybrid event to be held by the Chamber in December in São Paulo. The meeting featured the head of Paraná office in Brasília, Rubens Bruno, and consultant Degoncir Gonçalves.
Paraná Business Experience
The seminar started on Monday (11) and brings together more than 50 companies that are participating in the commercial technical mission to Dubai, as well as companies and investors from several countries. Paraná Business Experiences is an unheard-of event held to connect Paraná-based companies from several segments with investors and buyers from the UAE and elsewhere.
Paraná Business Experience is hosted by Invest Paraná in parallel to Expo 2020 Dubai. Paraná is the first Brazilian state to take over Brazil pavilion in the world exhibition. Furthermore, Invest Paraná has opened a commercial office in Dubai.
