São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce promotes on September 30th the workshop International Logistics. In the event, taking place in the city of São Paulo, Dener Souza, Cargo manager for South America of Emirates SkyCargo, and Laurent Van der Voo, commercial director of MSC, will speak about the main topics involved in the transportation abroad of goods and about the services offered by their companies to Brazilian exporters.
“In a lot of cases, we notice mistakes in the documentation, in the making of the transportation documents. In some countries, customs want to receive the data on what they’re receiving in advance and a lot of companies end up not presenting this data. There are also complaints on packages that are not adequate to the product being transported”, said Souza about some of the faults done by Brazilian companies when sending their products to other countries.
Souza says that Emirates SkyCargo developed its own system of cargo management, in which the exporter can monitor his goods 24 hours a day.
To the exporters that operate or want to operate in the Arab countries, the executive points out that his company has a special system for the transportation of cool and perishable cargo.
“A lot of times, when people think about the Middle East, they think in what could happen to a cool cargo, and we own some specific tools for the transportation of goods through places with high temperatures”, he says.
The manager of the Dubai-based company emphasizes also that the company owns 14 cargo aircrafts that are also available for charter flights, doing delivery in places away from the usual routes.
In turn, the director of MSC will speak about exports from Brazil to the Arab world and the main services offered to Brazilian exporters that sell to this market. According to Van der Voo, MSC has offices in all of the Arab countries.
Another point that is going to be covered by the executive are the main ports of exit for goods in Brazil and their structures, and the main receiving ports in the Arab world. Cool cargo transportation will be a highlight in MSC’s presentation.
“Up to July of this year, we exported a total of 296,515 TEUS (the twenty-foot container equivalent unit) from Brazil to the world. For the Arab countries, the number was of 51,233 TEUs, 18% of the total” says the executive. According to MSC’s director, the main goods transported by the company from here to Arabs were poultry, wood, paper and sugar.
Registrations for the event are open and for free, but participation is limited to only members of the Arab Chamber.
