São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will look for potential new business deals and projects in the United Arab Emirates. From the 18th to the 28th this month, an executive from the organization will attend fairs and meetings in the Gulf country to find new events for the Chamber to take part in and discuss partnerships with local companies.
Rafael Solimeo, the Arab Chamber International Business executive, will go to the exhibitions Beautyworld Middle East, for cosmetics, and Middle East Stone, for ornamental stones. “The fair is organized by the same conglomerate that organizes the Big 5,” Solimeo explains. “We have several member companies in the granite business that could be interested in attending this fair, because it’s really specific,” he muses.
At Beautyworld, the goal is to evaluate the event and bring market information to Brazilian cosmetics companies that are Arab Chamber members. On the 24th, two days before the event opens, a workshop for Brazilian companies will be organized by the Brazilian Association of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Industry (Abihpec) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). At the event, a Dubai city hall official will discuss packaging and product standards required for sale in the emirate.
Solimeo will also meet with executives from supermarkets Lulu, in Abu Dhabi, and Al Maya and Choithrams, in Dubai. “We will discuss the possibility of having a Brazilian Week in these supermarkets,” Solimeo said. The Brazilian Week is a promotional action whereby foods made in Brazil are strategically placed on stores’ shelves for about a week.
“We had one of these events at Kuwait’s Sultan Center and it worked out great. Besides, the event also fuels exports of Brazilian products,” Solimeo said.
In Dubai, Solimeo will also convene with authorities from the Dubai government’s Food Control Department. At the meeting, he will discuss a trip of the organization’s CEO to Brazil, to deliver a lecture on UAE food packaging standards and the importance of halal certification, which ensures food products were made in accordance with Islamic law. The CEO has already addressed the topic with Arab Chamber CEO Michel Alaby during the Gulfood fair last February, as reported by ANBA.
Also in Dubai, Solimeo will get together with executives from major shopping malls to go over the details of the participation of a major industry player in the Latam Retail Show, which has its first edition slated for August in São Paulo. The event, organized by company Gouvêa de Souza, targets the Latin American non-food retail sector.
