São Paulo – Icflix, internet streaming on-demand content provider based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is coming to Brazil and wants to offer its services to the Arab diaspora in the country and in Latin America. The website www.icflix.com offers more than 12,000 movies and series produced in the Middle East and North Africa countries and in India.
Salim Mhanna, executive of Business Development of the company, visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce this Thursday (29th) to introduce the website to staff members. He said that the goal is to promote Icflix especially among the members of the diaspora that speak Arabic.
Founded in 2012, the website can be accessed from all Arab countries. Now, the company decided to promote its services outside the region. “We started to promote to the diaspora simultaneously in North and Latin Americas”, he said.
Currently, besides its headquarters, the company already opened offices in Morocco, Egypt, United States and the Czech Republic, with France and England soon to be part of the list. Mhanna said that the company will also open an office in the city of São Paulo. “We want to launch operations based in São Paulo. Latin America operations will be based in Brazil”, he said.
Mhanna explained that the website’s movies and series are available with English, Arabic and French subtitles. The company is analyzing the viability of offering Portuguese subtitles. What is already decided, however, is that the website’s interface – content description, subscription instructions, etc. – will be available in Portuguese.
Currently, the company is dealing with local banks so subscribers can pay via bank slips or credit card. In Brazil, the service will cost BRL 18 (USD 4.68) per month and the subscriber will be able to access the content up to five devices at the same time. “I believe in two months we will be ready to start operations here”, said Mhanna.
According to the executive, the website has productions from the beginning of the 20th century up to nowadays. The majority of the Arab movies available come from Egypt and Syria. Besides rated movies, Icflix also offers content for children.
