São Paulo – Arab Health, the main fair in the medical and hospital sector in the Middle East, begins on Monday (28) in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, with 40 Brazilian companies. The fair should end on January 31st and bring together companies from 61 countries.
The Brazilian stand is organized by the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Medical, Dental, Hospital and Laboratory Articles and Equipment (Abimo) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex).
Last year, Brazilian companies that participated in the event closed US$ 1.1 million in immediate deals. According to Paula Portugal, Marketing manager at Abimo, expectations for this year are for domestic companies to close between US$ 1 million and US$ 1.5 million in deals at the fair.
“This is the tenth time Abimo is participating in the Arab Health, so it is a year of consolidation of the image of the Brazilian medical equipment in the Middle East, in the main sector fair in the region,” said the executive.
According to figures disclosed by the Abimo, in 2012 companies connected to the Brazilian Health Devices sector, which promotes sector exports, shipped abroad US$ 12.9 million to the Middle East. The main destinations in the region were Turkey, the Emirates, Algeria, Iran and Egypt.
The main products exported to the countries of the region were articulated prosthetics, instruments and equipment for medicine and dentistry, as well as cement and other products for tooth filling and bone reconstitution.
Apart from Arab Health, the companies present should also participate in the International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition, in the dentistry sector, to take place from February 5th to 7th, also in Dubai.
