São Paulo – The group Vetnil, made up by three Brazilian companies that are manufacturers of veterinary medication and products, should start exporting to the Arab market this year. The group has already shipped many samples to the United Arab Emirates and Morocco. "The Arab market is of great importance, but since the veterinary products require registration, we are following the norms in the country," stated the foreign trade advisor at the company, Joyce Scandorela.
At the end of last year, the group started the process for registration of the veterinary medication products in the Arab market. To start exports, Vetnil already counts on a distributor in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and in Morocco. According to Joyce, the greatest interest in this market is in supplements, products used to keep the animals healthy.
In January this year, Vetnil representatives participated in the World Equine Veterinary Congress in Marrakech, Morocco, where the contact was made with the current sales consultant for the group in the Arab country. According to the publicity manager at Vetnil, Fabiana Quinquio, the first export to the region will be shipped already this year.
The medication products being registered in the Arab market are for horses, dromedaries, cats and dogs. The products shipped to the United Arab Emirates are mainly for equines, due to the tradition of breeding these animals in the region.
The group already exports to Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Suriname, Portugal, Italy, Spain, France and Luxembourg. "We have expectations of increasing our participation in exports. We are always in search of great events to participate," he said.
Vetnil hopes that by 2009, when Brazil hosts the World Congress of Veterinary Doctors, the company will already be of international renown.
Profile
Founded in 1994, the Vetnil group counts on the company that goes by the same name, manufacturer of supplements for treating sick animals and athletes; Univet, that makes vermifuge, tranquillisers, serums, ointments, amongst others; and Vencofarma, producer of vaccines in general for cattle, goats, horses, sheep, dogs, cats and pigs. The latter is the result of the merger between Vetnil and Vencofarma, a company from Londrina, in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná.
The group is amongst the five greatest laboratories of veterinary products in Brazil and is a market leader in the equine health product area. With a factory located in Louveira, in the state of São Paulo, Vetnil employs 400 workers and produces 65 tonnes per month. Adding all the lines of products in the group, there are more than 200 different items. The group also counts on a horse breeding farm in Louveira and a farm in Goiás, for breeding cattle.
