São Paulo – Nine Arab companies in the food and construction sectors will take part in business meetings with Brazilian companies during the World Cup, which will be held in Brazil in the months of June and July. The businessmen will also watch the Brazilian team’s matches in the championship. The Buyer Project meetings are organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil).
“As the Arab countries are very fond of the Brazilian football, we joined Apex to bring big retail chains to enjoy the event and do business”, says Arab Brazilian Chamber Market Intelligence director Suelma dos Santos. National companies interested in taking part in the meetings are to express interest before May 12th. Their profiles will be evaluated and the participation will be confirmed at a later date (see information below).
The meetings will be divided into three stages. On June 9th and 10th, negotiations with the food companies of the Gulf region will be held; on June 25th and 26th there will be meetings with construction sector companies, and on July 2nd and 3rd, meetings will take place with food companies from North Africa. Each stage of the meetings will have three participating Arab companies. All of the rounds will be take place at the Arab Brazilian Chamber head office, in São Paulo.
The companies Al-Yasra Food, from Kuwait, and T. Choithram & Sons and Al Islami Foods, both from the United Arab Emirates, take part in the first meetings. They are seeking food products such as meat, poultry, processed and preserved meat, soy oil, honey, drops, candies, sweets, cookies, sugar, vegetable oil, coffee, powdered milk, cheese, eggs, among others. Al Islami is especially interested in halal-certified products. “They are supermarket owners who already have experience in purchasing Brazilian products”, says Santos.
Construction industry companies Bajafar Brothers for Multi Activities, from Sudan, Atraco Buildtec, from Saudi Arabia and The Sultan Center (ITG Construction), from Kuwait will participate in the rounds. “They are major distributors and wholesalers groups in their countries”, the executive explains.
The buyers are interested in items such as electric equipment, led display products, household appliances, pottery, tools, prefabricated construction materials, coating systems, wood covering, cooling systems, display equipment, waterproofing system, concrete covers, interior/exterior finish, anchoring system and tools in general.
The third stage of the meetings will feature the North African companies Onab Trade, from Algeria, Ragab Sons Group, from Egypt, and Koutoubia Holding, from Morocco. They are interested in maize, soy, meat, poultry, liver, tuna and canned vegetables, processed meat, cheese, pineapples, butter and cookies. “Koutoubia Holding is the only authorized buyer of Brazilian meat in Morocco”, the Arab Brazilian Chamber director points out.
“These are major buyers and they expect the Brazilian companies to have the capability to deliver the volume and regularity they need in order to supply their networks”, says Santos regaridng Arab companies’ expectations on negotiating with Brazilians.
The Arab businessmen in each round will attend Brazil’s first phase matches against Croatia, Cameroon and Mexico.
