The truck factory belonging to Fiat has been installed in Brazil since 1997 and currently exports to Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina. The aim is, however, to conquer the whole of America in the near future, and maybe even more. With the expansion of Brazilian economy, the company predicts a good performance for the following year. The company has 48 factories worldwide and has recently settled a contract for the sales of 400 vehicles to Egypt.
The company already directs 6% of exports to the United Arab Emirates, but the plan is to increase sales to the region. The aim is part of a bigger plan to increase their total exports by 140% next year. For such, the company is making a series of investments in their plant in the southern city of Gramado.
According to research carried out by the National Confederation of Industries, 94% of the large companies and 82% of the small and medium sized companies have the intention of investing to increase their production in the following year. In the investigation carried out in 2003, the registered percentages were of, respectively, of 86% and 80%.
In the list of products exported by Brazil, more than 7,000 items are considered exotic, such as needles for sewing machines and chicken eggs for incubation.
