São Paulo – Ten Brazilian auto parts companies took part in the trade fair Automechanika, held in Dubai from Tuesday (3rd) to Thursday (5th). They attended the event under the organization of the Brazilian Association of Auto Parts Manufacturers (Sindipeças) and had the support of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
The companies in the event are Autotravi (rubber and plastic parts), Biagio Dell Agli (turbochargers), DHB Global Sistemas Automotivos (steering systems), Fras-le (brake pads and linings), Farj (pneumatic and clutch assistance systems), Rei (cast parts), Frum (braking technology), Schadek (oil and water pumps), Sofape (air and oil filters) and Zen (alternators and electric parts).
“They are very happy at the trade fair. They are meeting a lot of people interested in the products. The companies have been making precious contacts to close future deals”, points out Antônio Bento, vice president of Sindipeças.
According to Bento, the fair is very favourable to doing business and all Brazilian companies are leaving the fair with negotiations underway. He says that the event in the United Arab Emirates fosters the meeting with not only Arab importers, but from other regions as well.
“They (the manufacturers) come to meet buyers from several parts of the world, like Middle East, Asia and Africa”, explains the businessman. In these regions, Brazil exports, mainly, to South Africa, Thailand, India and China. “And these are the people we can see here”, said Bento on the attendance of buyers from such countries in the Automechanika.
That does not mean, however, that Arab buyers are not at the event. “I have seen many people from Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria and Morocco”, says Michel Alaby, Arab Chamber’s CEO. “There are many Arab companies. I have talked to several (Brazilian) exhibitors here and they are very pleased”, he points out.
Brazilian exports of the sector are still small, according to data from Sindipeças. Out of the US$ 40 billion the industry produces yearly, only 8.6% is intended for foreign markets. According to Bento, Argentina, United States, Mexico and Germany account for 66% of Brazil’s export in auto parts.
