São Paulo – The tenth edition of Food Expo will take place from June 5 to 8 in Beirut, Lebanon. The fair will feature exhibitors of foodstuffs such as sweets, cheese, fish, poultry, meats, vegetables, fruit, canned goods, ice cream, beverages such as tea, coffee and mineral water, and cooling machines, packing machines and other types of machinery for the industry.
The fair is organized jointly by the Arab Federation for Food Industries, the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and the enterprises in the Delta and Abu Rafea groups, which specialize in events.
Food Expo is the Middle East’s second largest food industry fair, after Gulfood, held annually in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The 2011 edition of the event took place in Damascus, Syria, featuring 205 companies representing over 500 commercial brands, and received 12,400 visitors. This year, the fair will be held in an 8,000 square-metre area in Forum de Beirut.
In 2011, Brazil exported US$ 207.33 million worth of food to Lebanon. The figure is 7.46% higher than in 2010, when sales reached US$ 192.92 million. The main items sold to the Arab country were meats and offal, which generated US$ 116.04 million in revenues last year, according to the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
