Brasília – The volume of credit in the National Financial System reached 880.803 billion Brazilian reais (US$ 486.3 billion) in October, the equivalent of 34% of all goods and services produced in the country, i.e. the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In September, the rate was 33.3%.
Loans granted to natural persons totalled 304.9 billion reais (US$ 168.3 billion), an increase of 3.1% over September and of 32.5% over the 12-month period ending in October (annualized). For legal persons, the credit volume was 314.5 billion reais (US$ 173.6 billion), 2.6% more than recorded in September, and 27.9% more than the annualized result.
Total consigned loans stood at 41.950 billion reais (US$ 23.1 billion), an increase of 2.3% for the month, and of 34.6% during the 12-month period.
The data were taken from the Financial System Sheet on Monetary Policy and Credit Operations, published today (27th) by the Brazilian Central Bank.
