Rio de Janeiro – Available agricultural storage capacity in Brazil reached 183.3 million tonnes in the second half of last year. The volume is 1.5% higher than recorded in the previous six months. In the same comparison, the number of storehouses grew by 1.2%.
Data is part of the July to December 2021 Inventory Survey, released this Wednesday (8) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Silos make up the major part of useful storage capacity in Brazil. Among the five main agricultural products in the storage units, the most significant volume (16.9 million tonnes) is maize. Then comes soybean (7.7 million), wheat (6.4 million), rice (2.4 million), and coffee (1.1 million).
