São Paulo – Brazil will be one of the themes of the 13th Forum of the Federation of Arab Businessmen, due Thursday (14th) and Friday (15th) in Beirut, Lebanon, and geared towards local businessmen. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will be represented at the meeting and the organization’s treasurer Nahid Chicani will give a lecture on the relations between Brazil and the Arab world.
"I am going to speak of Arab contributions to Brazil, such as Syrian-Lebanese food, the Muslim capital in Latin America, which is in [the Brazilian city of] Foz do Iguaçu, the fact that many Brazilian companies produce Halal foods, the fact that we have over 12 million Arab descendants in the country, the various natural resources and investment for the World Cup and the Olympic Games."
Chicani is also going to present export and import figures between Brazil and the Arab countries and the main products sold, in addition to discussing free-trade agreements between Brazilians and Arabs that have either been already signed or are being negotiated. Mustapha Abdouni, an Arab Brazilian Chamber director, will also attend the event.
The Federation of Arab Businessmen is a non-government organization based in Amman, Jordan, that aims to strengthen ties and cooperation between Arab businessmen in different sectors of the economy.
The forum is going to address matters such as sectors with potential for investment and return; facilitating trade and profit remittance, and improving the tourism and foreign trade infrastructure in Arab countries, such as roads and railways, ports, airports, etc.
The meeting, which will be held at the Habtoor Grand Hotel, will also deal with topics such as government action to increase international competitiveness; economic opening and market liberalization; economic indicator projections and how the nations in the region prepare themselves for eventual economic crises.
