São Paulo – The Lebanese fashion designer Sophia Psaroulla launches next Saturday (7th), in Beirut, a collection inspired by Brazilian women in a partnership with journalist Lú Braga, a Brazilian from São Paulo state. The new collection is named after Braga, who served as inspiration for its creation.
“She studies a lot the trends followed by Brazilian women. She researched to find out what Brazilian women like the most. She visited the blog to see how I dress”, explains Braga about the collection created by Psaroulla. The blog mentioned by the journalist is written by her and covers topics such as social responsibility, fashion and beauty, based in her experiences living in Lebanon’s capital since April. The website address is www.nasegundaalucomeca.com.
The Lú Braga fashion line includes dresses, skirts, pants, coats and shorts done in leather, cotton and silk. “Sophia’s clothes have a touch of what the Brazilian woman likes. I gave some suggestions for the leather clothes because I really like them. It’s a fall/winter collection”, says Braga.
The fashion show for the launch of the collection will be a part of a charity event promoted by Rola Dias, wife of Paraguay’s ambassador in Lebanon. Tickets cost USD 33 with all revenues going to the purchase of wheelchairs to be given to women victims of war.
“Tickets are being sold by the ambassadress and are almost sold out. It will be an event for almost 200 people”, says the Brazilian. The event will take place at Coral Beach hotel on Saturday.
The fashion show will feature 12 pieces that are part of the collection. The clothing can be purchased at the shop Les Folies de Sophie, owned by the Lebanese fashion designer. “It’s a high-end collection and the pieces’ price tag starts at USD 300, USD 400”, says Braga. She also revealed that, in December, the Lebanese fashion designer will launch a new collection named after her.
According to Braga, Psaroulla is very interested in Brazilian fashion and, at the end of the month, is coming to Brazil to talk with fashion designers and executives of local fashion companies with plans to find brands for her to represent in the Middle East.
Braga says that she wants her blog to become a channel for Brazilian fashion in the Arab country. “This is the first partnership with a Lebanese on the fashion sector. I want to bring the Brazilian fashion to Lebanon. I hope I can bring the Brazilian professionals to present our fashion here”, she adds.
