São Paulo – Brazilian exports of toiletries, perfumery, and cosmetics grew 22.1% in September compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the Brazilian Toiletry, Perfume, and Cosmetics Industry Association (ABIHPEC). The revenue obtained with the shipment of goods abroad was USD 65.3 million, above the USD 57.3 million registered in September 2020.
Among the products shipped, the highlights were oral care items, with USD 7.7 million and a 73.2% upsurge; hair products, with USD 17 million and a 41.2% improvement; and soaps, which foreign sales generated USD 12.3 million and advanced 10.8% last September over the same month in 2020.
From January to September 2021, the sector also expanded in exports, 16.4% over the first nine months of 2020, with USD 517.2 million. According to ABIHPEC, the results reveal the impacts of the devaluation of the local currency, the Brazilian real, against the dollar, and the national industry’s efforts to remain competitive and attractive to international markets.
ABIHPEC is carrying out an internationalization program in the segment alongside the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), Beautycare Brazil. Companies participating in the initiative had a 38% increase in exports from January to September, with USD 151.91 million in sales.
