São Paulo – Clothing by eight Brazilian fashion brands is on sale from a pop-up shop within Galeries Lafayette in the UAE’s Dubai Mall. The brands are some of Brazil’s hottest in beach, casual and resort wear: Amir Slama, Karla Vivian, Guria Beachwear, Salinas, Água de Coco por Liana Thomaz, Cecilia Prado and Sinesia Karol.
The outlet will be open for two months in an action of industry internationalization program Texbrasil, from the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit).
According to information from Texbrasil, the outlet is a partnership with the Fashion Jardim showroom. It opened on March 6, on which day it grossed BRL 70,000 (roughly USD 18,000) in sales. Some 150 guests attended the opening, with live Latin music, Brazilian snacks and coconut water.
Texbrasil press material quoted the program’s executive manager Lilian Kaddissi as saying Brazilian party wear is very well known in the Arab world, since major brands have been shipping product for years. She also said the pop-up shop is intended to pave the way for Brazilian beach, resort and casual wear in the UAE market.
“With this selection of brands on showcase at Galeries Lafayette, we want to make our way into Arab women’s wish lists with our identity, our colors and prints,” said Kaddissi.
