São Paulo – The food industry has recorded a real growth rate of 5.3% in revenue for the month of May, according to data disclosed by the Brazilian Food Processors Association (ABIA). The rate includes exports.
"The foodstuff sector has resumed its ascending trend, thus maintaining initial growth projections for 2007, both in real production and in real sales, of 4.5%," says the manager at the Department of Economy and Statistics of the ABIA, Denis Ribeiro.
The organisation also forecasts, for the current year, an increase of 10% to 15% in export value, and of 5% in export volume.
