But in April only, the GDP grew 0.1% in comparison to March of this year and 2.9% in comparison to April of last year. Year-over-year, the GDP has grown 1.6%.
In the comparison between the quarter that ended in April with the quarter that ended in January, only the agricultural sector registered a growth (0.1%). The industry sector shrank 0.4%, with the services sector shrinking 0.1%.
Regarding demand, household consumption (0.1%) and exports (3.8%) went up. On the other hand, government consumption and the gross fixed capital formation, that is, investment, went down 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.
The GDP measured monthly by FGV is not an official indicator but can be seen as a preliminary measure of the official index, which is measured by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) every quarter.
