São Paulo – Saudi team Al Okhdood, coached by Luís Antônio Zaluar of Rio de Janeiro, won the championship game in division II of Saudi Arabia last Monday, 20, beating Al Oruba on penalties. Now the team has moved to the First Division.
The game was tied 3-3 and was decided on penalties, when Al Okhdood won 4-2. Brazilian striker Taylor scored the three goals in the normal time. Brazilian midfielder Kaká scored one of the penalties.
The second division championship, coach Zaluar said, is divided into two groups of 14 teams each. In its group, Al Okhdood became a champion on April 9. The 1st and 2nd place of each group got into the first division.
“The federation, for the purposes of the award, needed an overall champion. The game was yesterday, and we won on penalties,” Zaluar told ANBA.
