São Paulo – With almost 30 years of expertise, Alitec, a Brazilian manufacturer of industrial machinery and equipment, is investing in the Arab market. The brand is ready to export its high-pressure homogenizers, equipment used in different sectors to mix products that are difficult to blend. In addition to its items, Alitec also acts as a sales representative of stainless steel tanks for partner company Águia Inox.
The company’s focus is to start its expansion in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, then aim for the surrounding region. “In that region, countries are growing and presenting themselves [more] to the world. We are also thinking about the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and countries like Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt,” stated the company’s CEO, Valentim Bonfim de Paula.
Operational engineer Bonfim de Paula founded Alitec after working with industrial equipment for years, having held leadership roles, such as production management, and quality control. The engineer born in Rio de Janeiro initially wanted to provide technical consultancy to food companies, but his old contacts in the manufacturing area convinced him to invest in production. “I partnered with another employee and we were already well-known in the industry. We were being sought out to manufacture equipment and we made a project of plants for processing fruits, milk, and soft drinks,” he recalls.
From then on, Alitec’s focus became the high-pressure homogenizer portfolio. “We had several requests and started to manufacture the homogenizers. We focused on the equipment that manages to mix through particle integration,” revealed the engineer.
The company has already sold around 500 high-pressure homogenizers and explains that the equipment’s use cases are very broad. “Different industries need this type of machinery, from dairy and cosmetics to pharmaceuticals, exactly due to the challenge in mixing some products,” he explained.
15 years ago, the business was established in the municipality of Pindamonhangaba, in São Paulo state’s countryside, and received the contribution of the founder’s wife, Maria José dos Santos. An experienced salesperson, Santos took over the commercial directorate of Alitec and contacts customers, and negotiates sales.
It was Santos who decided to expand the brand to the Middle East. Since 2019, when Alitec visited the Dubai office of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, it began to further assess the region’s market. “I had an intuition about the potential of exporting to [these] countries. When we were in the Emirates, we saw that there was a demand for both our equipment and our representation,” said she, who joined the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in December 2020.
With the projected expansion strategy, Alitec signed a partnership to be the representative of Águia Inox, a company based in the state of Rio Grande do Sul that produces stainless steel tanks with large storage capacity. The represented company’s equipment is also used in industries, especially food, and can be employed in many applications. “We want to market our products, alongside Águia Inox’s storage tanks. We saw that this was a very interesting niche,” highlighted Santos.
The brand is already well-versed in exports, with a presence in different countries in South and Central America. The trade is done generally through direct sales to the customers. With Valentim’s expertise, Alitec wants to follow these steps and prospect for expanding industries in the Arab region. “We have a great opportunity for development there. It is a very promising place. We hope, in the coming years, to do great business in these countries,” concluded the CEO.
