São Paulo – Gisele Tonchis (pictured), the mayor of Lourdes, São Paulo visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce this Wednesday (24). Earlier this month, had Tonchis attended a lecture on Arab trade and investment by the Chamber’s CEO Tamer Mansour during company Alta Noroeste’s 3rd Business Meeting, in Araçatuba.
The mayor explained that Mansour’s address made her envision an opportunity to bring to fruition projects designed to develop the municipality. “We have projects in poultry farming, logistics, one on fish which is at its early stages, and we are seeking investors. So we have come to the Chamber in order to introduce our plans for those fields,” Tonchis told ANBA.
The mayor was welcomed to the Arab Chamber by Mansour himself. The municipality of Lourdes, which Tonchis explained was emancipated 27 years ago, already sustains an agribusiness agreement with China. As of this month, Gisele Tonchis is also head of the Baixo Tietê Watershed Committee, comprising 42 municipalities whose economies revolve around agriculture.
She said the idea is to start out by bringing investment into Lourdes, and then branch out into other cities across the Baixo Tietê area.
