São Paulo – Brazilian poultry exports revenue increased by 52.5% in September, according to data released this Wednesday (6) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). Shipments generated a USD 730.5 million income, well above the USD 479 million in September 2020.
In volume, exports also improved, though at a lower percentage, 21.3%, which means poultry protein was sold at higher prices than in September last year. Japan, the second-largest importer, also increased its purchases of Brazilian poultry by 45.2%, to 46,900 tonnes. The United Arab Emirates ranked third among the main destinations, with purchases of 43,200 tonnes and a 66.3% increase over September last year.
In the first nine months of the year, poultry exports totaled 3.466 million tonnes and rose 9% compared to the first nine months of 2020, which had shipments of 3.1 million tonnes. The revenue is at USD 5.6 billion, 21.7% higher than in the same months of 2020.
