São Paulo – Brazilian shoe manufacturers Tabita, from Rio Grande do Sul, has exported to the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait for five years. Eyeing to increase shipments to the region, company is set to invest in a mix of fashion design and comfort for its products.
“Arabs like shoes with high technology in comfort and, in Dubai (Emirates), they also enjoy sophisticated shoes, with shine and gems, which is a line we already work with,” says Henrique Galhego, export manager.
The company exports to store owners in both Gulf countries and it is precisely in these markets it plans to invest, as the Arabs account for only 3% of its foreign sales. “To work with them is a long term task. It is needed to visit, be there. The Arabs have potential to buy much more,” says Galhego.
According to the businessman, the company focuses on research and development. “We research in cities such as New York, Milan, Paris and London. We seek to bring shoe innovations to have an exclusive product,” he points out.
Among the models manufactured by Tabita are sandals, boots, flats, scarpins, mocassins and tennis shoes, and others.
Tabita’s output is around 3,000 pairs of footwear per day dia. Out of this total, 30% are exported to over 50 countries. Among the company’s main markets are Russia, Chile, United States, Japan, France, United Kingdom and Australia.
Exports are sent to store owners and distributors and, in some countries, the brand also sells to online stores and corners in department stores. Other action by the company abroad is taking part of two trade fairs in Italia, Expo Riva Schuh and Micam.
Founded in 1970, Tabita is headquartered in the Brazilian city of Igrejinha and employs 360 direct and 300 indirect employees.
