São Paulo – Tel Telecomunicações, from São Paulo, wants to start operating in the Arab market. The company is already operating in the Argentinian, Chilean and Spanish markets and seeks new countries to expand their international presence.
“We are in contact with STC to break into the Saudi Market with fixed and mobile infrastructure construction”, says Márcio Roberto Dalio, commercial director, on the negotiations conducted with Saudi Telecom Company, from Saudi Arabia.
Fixed infrastructure construction includes such activities as cable placement, digging up ground, placement of tubes and optic fiber, and the like. Mobile network installation, on the other hand, includes the construction of towers, installation of antennas, cables, etc. Tel Telecomunicações also offers services of network operation and maintenance.
In order to know better the Middle Eastern market, Tel became a member of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. “We want to know their business culture, understand how this Gulf market works, learn where the demand is. We will try to break into the markets where we have room for our business,” points out Dalio, adding they plan to analyse other countries of the region to discover new business opportunities.
Nowadays, out of the total grossed by the company, 15% comes from the company’s foreign operations, and the goal is to increase even further this percentage. “We want to grow, at least to double that amount, reaching 30%,” says the director.
Seeking such expansion, in August, Dalio will go to the Saudi capital of Riyadh. “We will talk to STC and look for new partners, companies which are already operating there, to make our market entry,” he adds.
In Brazil, Tel Telecomunicações has large companies among their clients, such as Vivo, Oi, Claro, Tim, Motorola, Nokia, Nextel and Net, as well as others.
