Brasília (Brazil) – The Brazilian trade surplus in the year-to-date through the third week of December was US$ 23.798 billion. Despite the economic crisis, the result represents growth of 1% compared with the same period of last year, according to figures announced by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade on this Monday (21st).
In the third week of this month (from the 14th to the 20th), the trade surplus was US$ 224 million, with foreign sales totalling US$ 3.254 billion, at a daily average of US$ 650.8 million, and imports totalling US$ 3.030 billion, at a daily average of US$ 606 million.
The trade surplus so far this month is US$ 596 million, with exports totalling US$ 9.084 billion, at a daily average of US$ 648.9 million, growth of 3.3% over the same month of last year. Imports have totalled US$ 8.488 billion, at a daily average of US$ 606.3 million, representing growth of 16% over the same period of last year.
