Rio de Janeiro – Industrial production in Brazil was up 0.2% in October from September, after sliding by a combined 2.7% in the three months through September. The numbers are from the monthly industrial survey made public this Tuesday (4) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The 0.2% increment in October was driven by a 4.4% hike in production of durable consumer goods and a 1.5% increase in capital goods (machinery and equipment). Conversely, output was down 0.2% for semi- and non-durable consumer goods and down 0.3% for intermediate goods (industrialized inputs used in manufacturing).
