Rio de Janeiro – Gross revenues of the services sector dropped 2.2% in July of this year in comparison to the previous month. The decline follows a 4.8% growth in June. The data is from the Monthly Survey of Services (PMS) of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The index also dropped in comparison to July 2017 (0.3%), year-to-date (0.8%) and year-over-year (1%). Despite the decline, the index, beginning in April of 2017, has been showing increasingly more moderate falls in the year-over-year periods.
From the five sectors surveyed, only services to households registered a growth in gross revenues from June to July (3.1%). Among the four sectors registering declines, transportation and postal services stood out, with a 4% tumble.
